eHarmony.com commercials

Is anyone else getting tired of these commercials? I'm so sick of hearing about "the magic of a first kiss" and "true compatibility". For those of you who don't know (and this whole thread should prove this to be obvious), I am currently not in a relationship. And many of you may think, "Oh, you're young, you still have time yet". But understand (warning: pathetic alert) that I've been trying to get a girlfriend since preschool. And as a single person, I'm getting tired of hearing "So-and-so loves me for who I am", and that, my friends, is NOT realistic! I have not been in ONE relationship yet where I was truly accepted for who I am. It's gotten so bad that whenever an eHarmony commercial comes on or if I hear "This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)", I shout obscenities at my TV. Maybe it's only me, but I had to let my feelings out.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I kind of kind of know how you feel, I used to think that love was hopeless to the point of considering just plain giving, and those commercials made me feel somewhat inferior and even a bit sick (not to mention want to cry). I don't know if I'm saying the right thing here, but hand in there, true love will find you yet.

I guess they are just commercials after all, and what I have learned, you really can't take them to seriously. The power of the media sometimes. I know it has affected me.

I think online dating services can work in rare cases, but I also find the commercials annoying. Especially that one guy that says he doesn't remember what he was looking for.

I tried eHarmony 3 years ago...what a RIPOFF! They only seemed interested in matching me with women who were either WAY too young or WAY too old. Secondly, these "matches" lived 40-50 miles from my hometown, despite my request for matches closer. Finally, every time I did reach out to a match, the match almost immediately broke it off, even though I was being "my true self". For this I was shelling out $120 a year? So, I'm back to coping with my loneliness.
