XERUS’S VOICE ARTIST FOCUS

Today’s V/A focus is that crazy madcap cartoon from the 90’s, Eek! the Cat. Created by Savage Steve Holland and Bill Kopp. Eek! is a purple housecat with a kind heart and loves to help everyone, but always ends up getting abused buy it. Eek! later became a show called Eekstravaganza and it featured other cartoons such as The Terrible Thunderlizards about a team of dinosaur commandos who try to wipe out humans in a dinosaur city. As well as Klutter about a pile of clothes and junk that was brought to life by some kids and becomes their unusual pet.

EEK! THE CAT VOICE ARTISTS:

BILL KOPP: Eek! Pierre, Jib
SAVAGE STEVE HOLLAND: Elmo the Elk
E.G. DAILY: Wendy-Elizabeth, Kozy(second voice)
CHARLIE ADLER: J.B, Granny, Prof. Wiggly
ELINOR DONAHUE: Mom
CAM CLARKE: Puffy, Wuz-Wuz
TAWNY KITAEN: Annabelle(first voice)
KAREN HABER: Annabelle(second voice)
DAN CASTELLANETA: Hank, Mittens(first voice)
JOHN KASSIR: Mittens(second voice)
JAID BARRYMORE: Kozy(first voice)
BRAD GARRETT: Zoltar, The Giant Who Thinks Bears Might Taste Good
GARY OWENS: TV Announcer
And I heard that Sharky the Sharkdog was voiced by a real dog.

THE TERRIBLE THUNDERLIZARDS VOICE ARTISTS:

SAVAGE STEVE HOLLAND: Doc
BILL KOPP: Kutter
JASON PRIESTLEY: Squat(first voice)
COREY FELDMAN: Squat(second voice)
CURTIS ARMSTRONG: Scooter
CHARLIE ADLER: Bill, Dr. Steggy
BRAD GARRETT: Thuggo(first voice)
KURTWOOD SMITH: General Galapagos, Thuggo(second voice)
CAM CLARKE: Biff, Huckleberry
MR. T: Mr. T-Rex

KLUTTER VOICE ARTISTS:

KIRK THATCHER: Klutter
CAM CLARKE: Ryan Heap
SAVAGE STEVE HOLLAND: Wade Heap
SANDY FOX: Sandee Heap
MICHAEL ZOREK: Kopp
HALLE STANFORD: Vanna Erving
DAVID SILVERMAN: John Heap
KATHY IRELAND: Andrea Heap

NOTE: Bill Kopp wasn’t available to work on Klutter, so they created a cartoon version of him on the show.

I never heard of this cartoon, but the name Bill Kopp DOES sound familiar to me for some reason...

As for "Savage" Steve Holland, I only recognize his name because he wrote my favorite episode of Kenan and Kel in which the two forget to tend of Chris's house while he's on vacation.

Eek was a brilliant show, and one of the reasons I really missed the OLD Fox Kids before Power Rangers took up 90% of the schedule. One that got completely lost when Disney got all of Saban's back catalog , including everything by Fox Kids (I really wish Nelvana got the rights to it... I'm sure SHOUT! Would have released it on DVD in some form).

Never cared for Klutter... that seemed like it should have been another show entirely. It didn't have the same humor or divine weirdness that Thunder Lizards had, even though Steve wrote a lot of the scripts.

When the show moved from a 20 minute cartoon to 2 11 minute cartoons, I think it really popped. And who can forget the episode where Eek meets his new neighbors, the Squirrel family? "There's Hally, and Acron, Steven Jr. Gunter, and my wife Thhhhuthan." Which I'd constantly repeat over and over.

Yeah, I really loved that Squirrel family. They were so boring it was funny.

And I also love the Mom on the show, the way she listens to her language tapes while learning how to say weird stuff like, "The librarian's head popped off." "Your lemming is driving wrecklessly." "The library is full of tar." "Don't put that in your mouth, the spiders haven't hatched yet!"

While Eek! and the Terrible Thunderlizards were animated at Nelvana, Klutter was animated at Film Roman.

I really liked the first season of Eek! the best but when the final season happened, the stories all suddenly became the same. The last stories always started out with Eek! annoying Sharky, then scientists Hank and Jib find something in the sky, then Elmo gets Eek! to do a stunt for him because he's too scared to do it himself.

You can find a lot of Eek episodes on youtube. Here's one of my favorite 1st season episodes.

divine weirdness that Thunder Lizards had
I didn't read this whole thread, but "divine weirdness" is a GREAT description of a lot of entertainment I love! Excellent!

For the record, I never saw Klutter, but TTLizards and Eek are great!
