Watching the Season 1 DVD's, I noticed that Gobo appears in a slightly different design than what was finally settled on. What's wierd about this first version, is that he doesn't seem to have eyelids really, but some of his hair seems to be attached to the tops of his eyes, seemingly suggesting eyelids. But it's clearly just the hair, not a complete lid. Looks really amatuerish, like he was rushed or something. Can anyone shed some light on the evolution of the Gobo Puppet?

I think the first half of the series was done as a sort of experiment, to see what worked. After those shows the crew worked a few months to retool the shows, and whatever changes were made can be seen in shows 13-24 (such as Gobo and Ma Gorg's appearances).

Do you guys want to know another thing that changed? In the first 12 episodes almost every show started out with Gobo along with one or 2 other random Fraggles, going to "Outerspace" to pick up his postcard from Uncle Matt, and his confrontation with Sprocket. Now there was a few times in the later years Gobo makes an outerspace trip, but not nearly as much. Did anyone else notice this?

Oh I dunno. Gobo sniffs aroundthe trash can in Doc's place quite often throughout the entire series' run.:smirk:

His appearance changed between the first episode taped ("Thirty-Minute Work Week") and the second ("Don't Cry Over Spilt Milk"). In 'Work Week', his hair is askew and his pupils are farther apart; also I think the hair/eyelids mechanism is absent. In 'Don't Cry...', his pupils are closer together and the hair/eyelids effect is utilized frequently. I think his hair is also a tiny bit different (I could be wrong tho).

Yesterday I decided to watch the first dozen or so in taping order, in order to kinda watch the evolution.

You know who else changed between those two episodes? The Trash Heap (in the first episode, her eyes don't open) and Sprocket (his eyelids open to the side instead of up). Anyone else notice this? (Please say yes.)

Marjorie even had a different-shaped mouth (V-shaped) and a tongue then. I think her head was a bit smaller too, with less shape.
