Dying thread along with fleece?

Hello, inexperienced dyer here. I am planning to dye fleece for the first time soon and an idea struck me. I was wondering if it was possible to dye the thread along with the fabric in order to get a matching color. Or would it be better just to match the thread at a store? What do the experienced dyers think? I would appreciate advice. Thank you.

I think you're wasting your time- I recommend purchasing thread that comes close to the fabric colour you are using.

Someone I know said to use gray thread for everything, I guess it hides very well......

If you do the ladder stitch perfectly you won't see a stitch. A whip stitch from the back side of the fabric will hide too but it has to be a very tight stitch. Haven't tried the grey, perhaps I'll try that and see too.
