What an adorable blow torch!

Can I hold it?

Yes. Yes you can. But its a special blow-torch that is lit and then held in your left ear.

Ready? I'll stick it in there for you.

LOL!!

As will your puppets if you let others handle them...getting back to the original thread (clever huh?!).

A friend worked on The Ronn Lucas Show here in the UK (Ronn doing Ventriloquism, with different variety acts each week) as Assistant Puppeteer and Puppet Rigger, caring for the puppets, dressing them and generally making them look their best. He always used to handle Scorch with kid gloves (literally he wore a pair of clean white gloves each time he held the puppet), thus making the other crew members realise the value of the puppet making them less tempted to come and have a play.

Keith Harris is equally protective of Orville (sorry for the abundance of UK references) and apparently people have been sacked for playing with the duck.

These are the tools that you make your living with and you have invested considerable amounts of money into (even if you build yourself think in terms of materials and your own time at a decent hourly rate).

On a related note, how do you deal with the folks (usually children) who insist on jamming a finger or an entire hand into your puppet's mouth as an interaction?
I do too wonder why children and some times Adults want puppet to bite their fingers,it must be something sycological. I have thaught about it and I thinks it's achilds reflex to touch thing, to learn to see if it's real, thats how most children learn, by touch.

Gordon to get them to stop I always tell the Children NO, it hurts the Puppet, and i Make the puppet Cry(talking about scaring a child for lfe)and the smaller children will feel sad an d don't want ot hurt the nice puppet. The older are not fooled they know how a puppet works, they are just trying to see how the puppet work(or trying to throw you off)like trying to figure out a magic trick, and if they find out they will tell too! When this happens I tell the Child that It's a secret and I need their help so they don't ruin it for the littile one's,most will want ot help and not say anything the older child feels good because he is part of the secret.

Hope that helps.

It seems like a lot of kids just like to punch puppets. Is that a reflection of the world we live in now?
