Disneyland targeted on terror tape?
Apparent surveillance footage of park found on second video, officials say.

By BILL RAMS and ALDRIN BROWN
The Orange County Register

Anaheim – For the second time in as many months, authorities this week disclosed the existence of an alleged terrorist videotape containing apparent surveillance footage of Disneyland.

The footage -- which also contained images of the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas -- was discovered last fall after the arrests of four suspected al-Qaida members in Detroit.

Also found were sketches of a hospital in Jordan and a U.S. Air Force base in Turkey, federal officials have said.

In July, authorities in Spain discovered surveillance-type footage of the Anaheim theme park, the Golden Gate bridge and other landmarks during a raid of a suspected terrorist cell in that country.

Disneyland officials said they have been in a heightened state of alert since Sept. 11 and would make no immediate changes to security in response to the latest report.

"We have not received any information from any law enforcement agency about a specific and credible threat against the Disneyland resort," park spokesman Ray Gomez said.

"We maintain daily communication with local and federal law enforcement agencies regarding security matters, and we take our cues from those agencies," Gomez said.

After last month's Spanish video find, the California Highway Patrol stepped up patrols around the park.

"The FBI and local law enforcement are mindful that Disneyland is possibly a symbolic target for potential terrorist activity," said Sheryl Tankersly, an Office of Emergency Services spokeswoman.

Anaheim police officials said they wanted more information about both Disneyland videotapes but warned against public overreaction.

"We'd be foolish not to take everything seriously," Sgt. Rick Martinez said.

If the Terrorists strike anywhere it will be terrible - Not just Disneyland!!!!!!!

Even though it has been nearly a year since the World Trade Buildings collapesd it still seems slightly unreal what happened to all those poor people.

My big hope is that George Bush remembers that two wrongs don't make a right because I think that bombing Iraq isn't going to make the problem of terroism go away. And if Sadam does have nuclear weapons (God forbid) he is more likely going to use them against the USA and other countries if Bush decides to drop a bomb on Iraq.

I am sorry if I make some people angry with that opinion - I don't usually get involved in debates etc - but I think this is one subject which is close to everyones heart and everyone in entitled to their opinion on it.

you know...when you have to go outside of the country entirely to find someone with a clear head...that's when you know you have a problem.

in other words, i agree with Amy. yes, what happened was horrible, but how do you think WE look to the innocent people we're bombing? i would think we look like terrorists ourselves. think about it. we're charging in, guns blazing, blowing up everything that doesn't agree with our way of doing things. what does that sound like to you?

while i do agree that those responsible for the disaster should be brought to justice, i do NOT believe we should be using the deaths of all those people as a shield to do whatever the h*ll we want to anyone who looks at us funny. they were human beings whose lives were taken away, not martyrs to a cause.

of course that's just my opinion...

Stevie, I realize youre young so...well point is, you think it's a coincidence the media releases videotapes of dogs being tortured and Disneyland being targeted? Well it's no coincidence. The government has had these for quite a long while, and what better way to rile up the American public on the heels of the 9/11 commenoration and Bush wanting to go into Iraq then by showing dogs being gassed and famous family resorts shown on videos. Total media manipulation by the government. Though the American public isnt that stupid...not to many people support the US going into Iraq as it stands.

I said:

From what I understand, CNN had acquired the tapes of "dogs being tortured." Which were really disturbing...

Just to add to what I said before -

When countries are bombed it always seems to be the innocent people who get killed whilst the actual terrorists manage to get away because they are the ones with the means of escape and the people who aren't terrorists end up getting bombs dropped on them.

Doesn't seem very helpful for anyone involved when that happens.

I also agree that Media Manipulation is being used by Bush as he loses support for his campagin against Iraq. I also think Bush went into Presidency looking for a war with someone and the Terrorist attacks last year have given him a great opportunity. His Father was also a 'War Person' and George W Bush wants to finish off what Daddy started against Iraq.

When the planes hit the wtc sep 11 last year, it was just around 4 in the afternoon here in sweden. I was working on a beautiful ballad, just finishing the production. A friend of mine came in to the studio, shaking. He asked me if i had heard what had happened, and that WW3 was about to break out. We turned on the tv and it was everywhere. The whole world knew about it. I was shocked when they aired those footages with the collision. I was like mute. I couldn't say anything but *what tha...*

After a while i started processing what i had seen, and we all started speculating, and trying to figure out a motive, who it was and so on. I was still pretty shook up.

That night i didn't get much sleep. I thought about all the victims. It was terrible.
We normally don't get CNN but my tv-provider added it to our network that night. I watched CNN all night, and was still shocked.

I never watched the news that much before as i did that week. Now it feels like life has returned to normal, but how is it for all those who was there? They will never return to a normal life. I just hope that this never happens again. I wish for world peace, but as it is today, i think we have to wait a long long time for that.

I just thought i'd share some of my thoughts on 9-11-2001. Even so far away from it all my whole contry was in shock.
