Does anyone else have any Disney characters that they made into a puppet?

I have been setting up my new workshop and I just uncovered one of my earliest puppets. It is Sebastian from The Little Mermaid.

The puppet was an attempt to design a puppet from a 2D design from someone else. When I first started building I thought "What is someone already has a character/picture and they want me to build it?" I decided I had better practice and this was the result.

Sebastian 1

The picture I worked from showed Sebastian as a solid red. Shortly after I finished it I realized that he was actually two tones of red. Oh well.

Sebastian 2

So? Any thought, comments, or puppets to share?

I don't know where photos of it are, but the Disney Parks did a whole "Little Mermaid" black light show with puppets. There was one based on Lion King too I think (different than the Broadway musical).

Very cool little mermaid show if you videotape it with nightvision on, all of the puppeteers are made visible and you can see what is going on behind the scenes, highly recomended

looks good

in general i find most 2D cartoon characters do not work well as puppets (im having a duece of a time with a project right now based on 2D cartoon characters)

but thier are exceptions to every rule, some do work well, its all in the design,

Not a bad puppet at all. Especially somebody as complex in design as Sebastian. I love your Big Bad Wolf puppet too. That's a character I mean to tackle someday.

Yes, the art of puppet design is something that is not as easy as it sounds. I sometimes have to deal with designs that expect mouths to be small and give little consideration to the mechanics inside the puppet (eg. mechs weight putting a strain on the puppet head/support points.

Thanks TopperFraggle,
Overall he is a fun character. I think I am still going to go back and give him the details that I think add so much to characters.
