First you tell the stage to sit...

Not to veer off subject, but didn't Gladys the Cow have some sketches with Kermit? What were they?
Other Gladys/Kermit sketches may exist, but I recall only one on Sesame Street: Kermit hires the cow as a stage manager for his variety show. (BTW, the title of my reply comes from Gladys' lines before Kermit explained the job to her.) Among other things, Gladys has to count backwards from 4 and call out "Action!" to begin a scene; she originally interprets "counting backwards" to mean reciting the numbers normally while turning her back. Grover himself made that mistake in an earlier sketch, to make this reply vaguely on-topic...

The sketch ends when Gladys pretends not to hear Kermit at first, then uses his "4, 3, 2, 1, ACTION!" shout as an excuse to upstage the actors with a show tune: "That's my cue! 'By the light...of the silvery moooon...'"

I know... I wonder if that was the premise for the Kenny Rogers episode of TMS?

I've got Grover's "2 lecture" on Youtube if you want to see Kermit finally slap Grover on the back for a change!

Part one was dull compared to most of Kermit's lectures: almost any low number would have inspired the same reaction from the crowd of Anything Muppets. The variations on "That's all?" were OK at first, but kept getting stranger as the sketch went along...*shrug*

Appropriately enough, part two was much funnier; I especially liked Kermit's "revenge" backslap and Grover's glad-handing his fellow Muppets. The way he persistently asks them "Why is 2 your favorite number?" reminds me of a politician asking passers-by "Why are you going to vote for me?" I sympathized with the others' reactions, especially the Count's; of course, the Count's favorite number changes every time he thinks of a new one. :zany:

Part three felt like an anticlimax, especially after the emotional reactions in the second part: Kermit made a clever pun when the "2" sign fell onto Grover, but one joke doesn't save an otherwise boring sketch. (The others didn't even sound as sarcastic or angry as they had before...)

I wonder... what skits did Grover slap Kermit in? I don't ever recall seeing any sketches where he slapped Kermit.

Did he slap Kermit in the skit where Kermit wanted Grover to get in a box? I've seen this sketch in The Sesame Street Book of Puzzles, and that book didn't feature any pictures or dialogue involving Grover slapping Kermit. However, I do know that this book alters/ cuts some lines from the sketches (in the books representation of the skit alone, when Kermit asks why Grover doens't want to get in the box, the monster inside the box says, "Because I'm in the box", but I've read elsewhere that the monster didn't say anything in this sketch, he just made some noises. Also, I've read that the sketch edned with Grover greeting the monster, but the book doens't have any such dialogue).

At the beginning of the sketch, Kermit is by himself, and then Grover suddenly appears, wanting to help. It seems weird that Grover would just suddenly show up wanting to help, without slapping Kermit on the back and yelling "Hey, frogggy babbyyyyy".
