Superbit DVDs are high-performance releases that drop all the extras to make room on the disc for maximum video and audio quality. Each release includes an anamorphic widescreen transfer of the film, Dolby Digital and/or DTS 5.1 surround tracks, minimal subtitles, simplified menus, and no extras. SuperBit DVDs *do* play in normal DVD players; there is no additional equipment required.

Along with a batch of other releases, Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment will release The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth in the SuperBit format on 03/04/03.

I personally own one SuperBit DVD (Gattaca) and it's excellent, although admittedly I've never really done a stare-and-compare between the SuperBit and standard release. I'm a bit surprised at the selection of these two titles, but I'm not complaining either!
