Crinkle Mouse Died Today.

Some of you know the freaky story of the mice that my partner and I kept. We couldn't handle or play with them, but we kept them clean, fed and happy. My favorite, the only boy, Speedy Mouse died a couple of weeks ago. It's actually been hard on me. He was so sweet and really responded to me in particular. His mom died today. I made her a nice little sealed box and she will be buried in a garden tomorrow.

Crinkle Mouse first came to us as a crazy little feral house mouse that had the knack of finding the one piece of cellophane in my apartment and would chew on it in the wee hours of every morning. We soon caught her with a safe trap filled with peanut butter and Goldfish crackers. She enjoyed her way through many Goldfish bags of mine in the past so I knew it would work.

Ian decided to keep her at his apartment where she could keep him up every night instead. She was a tiny little thing that grew alarmingly round until one night we discovered she'd had a bunch of mouse babies! Her kids include Squinty (who passed earlier this year), Shy (who escaped early on), Speedy (the happiest OCD boy mouse who just recently left us) and is survived by the most brazen of her spawn, Spunky Mouse.

There was a time when we noticed that Crinkle had found a way to squeeze through her bars so she could come and go as she pleased! Now she has left this world on her own terms and is probably in a sea of Goldfish crackers in the sky.

We will miss this crazy, cracky little mouse. I thought she would outlive us all. We love you Crinkle. You were definitely here!

Thanks. She was a very sweet little mouse. She and her kids had long happy lives. They really aren't supposed to live more than a few months in the wild, but live longer in captivity if cared for properly. She has one more kid left and she seems okay right now. We thought Crinkle would have passed a year ago, but she just liked life too much.

Aww...that's sad. I remember seeing all the mice. They were cute. I hope all the others are okay.

I'm very sorry for the loss, Jamie! It's hard to lose a pet... especially one that has been with you for so long. You have my condolences my friend. :sympathy:
