Covering a Small mouse

a few years ago I received a latex mouse head and had planed to build a stick puppet with an eye mech. Ive just finally begun construction on the mech for the eyes and mouth but im looking for material to cover the skin. I thought of flocking the latex and then adding patches of fur in the ears and chin for character but after reasearch it seems the flocking might not withstand the flex I intend to put this poor creature through. Any suggestions?

Maybe I should have named this thread "How to Skin a Mouse" but I didn't want to offend the animal rights activists.
