Have arrived  No jet-lag either!

Note to self: don't fly BMI again, they're incompetent.

Legoland is down near Oceanside. It's about an hour and a hal-2 hours south of LA. I had a blast there when I went a couple years back. They've updated alot though, so it's probably even better now. Hope you have fun out here

San Francisco is quite a way from LA so I won't be around. LOL! Still, I hope you have fun. Is this your first trip to the US? My advice is to stay away from the tourist traps. There are ways to see the sights without subscribing to expensive tours. Have a blast!

Manda, you're going to be mad. I forgot all about that you lived there, and I was there in NO over the weekend...Saturday night...with some friends. We have a friend who has an apartment there we can rent out for $100/wk.end and was only there one night. We might be going back soon, I dunno. Email me so we can swap contact info, likewise in case you make it to Memphis, TN. fozziemup@aol.com

Yeah, I checked into Legoland. My aunt and uncle are offering to drive me down (!), but sadly there won't be time on this trip. However, that's something to plan for the next one, probably in December

I'm at the Sheraton, as I said, just a few minutes walk from both Universal and City Walk. I'm typing this sitting in the Panasonic offices on the Universal lot, BTW...

I've done the Universal Studios tour - well, you have to - which was fun. On reflection, I shouldn't have bothered with T2:3D and Shrek:4D, as you kinda need working 3D vision for the effects to work :-( Last night I saw "The Matrix: Reloaded" on the IMAX screen, which was pretty cool. Shame about the insects crawling all over the projector lens, though! I'm off to look for Muppet DVDs shortly, and also to get some food; I'm meeting a friend tomorrow evening, and my folks are taking me around a bit more on Saturday before my flight home.

Money is not a problem - I'm on expenses :-D

Gotta go now, my lift is waiting.

Kev, I'll definitely "bear" that in mind the next time I'm over ;-)

Jamie - this is actually my second trip. I was in San Diego for an impressively wet week a couple of years ago.

Manda: I may well visit New Orleans one o' these days!

Indeed - New Orleans is a wonderful place to visit. I went there in February 2001 as part of a week-long trip to Orlando and Louisiana. Had a fantastic time at Disney, Universal, Discovery Cove and other touristy things before heading off to New Orleans for a couple of days.

Mind you, I've gone across a fair bit of the US having done a coach trip from New York to Los Angeles. Spent a bit of time at Niagra Falls and Toronto as a bit of a diversion into Canada and it was a fantastic experience - all of it. Won about $700 in Las Vegas (having spent most of the evening at the Star Trek Experience and sampling their theme restauraunt - Moogie's Choice Pasta with Romulan Ale) which I then used to pay for a limo service when I arrived in LA. Spent the day being chauffered around the studios and when I got to Warner Brothers they thought I was a client or somebody important and tried to wave us through the main gate instead of the visitor's entrance. Heh. Spent an evening at Medieaval Knights in Anaheim which was fantastic. I thought these places would be tacky (and it is to a small extent) but it was a fantastic performance and the food was good.

Yes - I did love my trips to the US - and hope that I'll get the opportunity to go back there again for a holiday or three - but hopefully away from other British folk trying to do the same

Regards,

Martyn
