Clifford: a good guy

Hey guys. This may have been discussed before, but I just want to know, what do you guys think of Clifford? In my opinion, he was a great host, and the theme song for Muppets Tonight was kickin'. Even though Kermit should have hosted Muppets Tonight, Clifford was a good choice. It's a shame that nowadays he has been reduced to background character status. Once again, what do you think of Clifford?

i prefer him to be a sort of on the outside, much like Floyd was in the muppet show, sort of "to hip" for the room, but always hanging around, i do not think his personality translates well as a main line character., just my opinion though

I don't know... In MFS I'd say he had a pretty big role, and the two succeding movies were TV movies anyway, and therefore the idea, right or wrong, is that not as much thaught is put into them as theatrical. Overall though, I'd say Clifford is doing allright, and I'm certainly a fan!

Clifford is a character that grew on me. I didn't like him at first, but slowly came around. I was bumbed out that he wasn't in the 2002 christmas movie with all the other muppets. But I was happy to see his return in the Oz movie, although it was for a small cameo. However, I think Clifford was put in Muppets From Space for show and nothing more.

I also prefer Clifford with shades instead of seeing him with eyes.

Clifford worked well in "The Jim Henson Hour", and as has been mentioned here before, he did work better with sunglasses. I thought he had a great design, and was one of Kevin Clash's best characters. I can see why he didn't work so well as host of "Muppets Tonight." Because the essence of his personality is "cool", he can never believably go nuts, lose control or be anything but, well, cool, and you need to be able to go completely crazy to be host of the show. Clifford tried to cut lose, but everyone understood what his character was really supoosed to be like, so it just didn't work. Floyd understood his "cool" persona and was a more believable and solid character because he stuck to the "cool," y'know? But Clifford was and can continue to be a good character as long as he maintains his "cool" rather than trying to be the poor man's Kermit that he was in "Muppets Tonight."

As I've said before, i dig Clifford, just not necessarily the ways he is used. I think he's like Scooter in that although its been said he's a human, his "species" is sort of hard to pin down. and his appearance on "Muppets Celebrate Jim henson" was strange: him in the Muppet Show theatre? I was only about 8 or 9 when Jim henson Hour was on and don't remmeber his appearances on there.

Clifford was one of the Muppets that I guess I "grew up" with. See when I was younger (being born in '88) my Muppets exposure was the video tape "Muppets Sing-a-Long: It's not Easy Bein' Green" which Kermit and Clifford were like the main hosts of. I also watched Muppet Babies. I was also a huge fan of Muppet Christmas Carol. That was my biggest Muppet exposure. Of course now I'm a full blown Muppet fan and really enjoy all the classic stuff from when Jim was still alive.

Ok anyway, so yeah I like Clifford since he was kind of a big part of my Muppet exposure when I was younger.
