I remember there was a Muppet Show episode where the guest star couldn't make it and they invited some guy they never heard of called Chris Langham to be the guest star. And he turned out to be a really funny guy.

Can anyone tell me who Chris Langham is and what was the reason that episode was made?

Chris Langham was one of the Muppet Show writers.

I believe they originally wanted Richard Pryor, but he was badly injured after some big stunt...

Langham went on to be a writer and the regular "human" bit player on 'The Jim Henson Hour,' as well.
