Remember the carrying cases they used to make for action figure lines? I have a fairly generic one for the original He-Man figures line and I think Star Wars did one in a Millenium Falcon theme.

Now that we have about a dozen or so figures in our collections, has there been any talk about doing a carrying case? I ask because my daughter and I play with our guys all the time and we've been throwing a few at a time in our Elmo backpack when we go out, but it would be great if there were a themed case that had a place for each figure. You know, a larger spot for Fozzie, a smaller one for Kermit, a thin tall one for Piggy, and so on.

Maybe a box mocked up to look like a wall of lockers like in Manhattan. The EM bus would work well too, if it were big enough. Or how about a stage/backstage playset that's hinged together and can be folded down for storage including space for figures and when unfolded ready for play. Kinda like the Sesame Little People playset, or the Bear in the Big Blue House figure playset.

Any fan suggestions or official word from Palisades on this?

I'm intrigued and my interest is piqued. I don't know if you could get too specific with the size of the "pockets" that the figures would go in...but with their sizes and shapes all being so different from eachother (unlike the SW and GI Joe figures of the 1970s-80s) it'd be hard not to.

I'd like to see one either like the EM Bus, or like the arches of the Muppet Theatre...

Star Wars had several, including molded ones shaped like Darth Vader's and C-3PO's heads....and with the more recent (post 1995) lines they had one shaped like the Millenium Falcon. They also had a few others that were more "lunchbox" shaped. My favorite though was the "Chewbacca Bandolier Strap" that held about twenty figures....unfortunately what held them in place was styrofoam, which eventually deteriorates over time. And with a lot of play.

I'm intrigued.

Well, so much for the carrying case, huh?

I guess my daughter and I will stick to putting Fozzie and Kermit in Zip-Lock bags on those trips to family functions and so forth.

....which is probably going to get a lot more expensive now that I think about it. I can't imagine how many Zip-Lock bags we're going to go through as opposed to having spent my hard earned money once on a stylish soft vinyl or hard plastic carrying case from Palisades made up in an actual Muppet theme.

Boo. :frown:

Actually you should be able to find a soft case with compartments that, although it won't be Muppet themed, should do the trick. I suggest Lillian Vernon or another catalogue like that as a place to look.

Course there is always BJs Warehouse too... 197 ziplock bags for less than six bucks!

I think the carrying case is a great idea! It could have 12 compartments (3 rows of 4 with peg holes) that the figures stand in, and instead of a vinyl cover to keep them in place, it could have the arches that hold them in. And of course a handle on top for carrying purposes. I'd prefer this to a playset. In fact they can include a figure to help it sell. Maybe a vaudeville Kermit, since in 2004 (probably the earliest this would be possible) he will be long gone from store shelves, or a traditional Muppet Show Piggy in her real outfit. Or better yet Naked Rowlf.

I think I'd rather have a carrying case than a playset too, so long as it were heavily Muppet themed... like you said, with arches and whatnot. An exclusive figure with it would work well too, maybe Nigel or something if it were in a stage theme. On the other hand, you were probably on the right track with a figure that's already been released. That way it's fair to those who won't want to buy the case just to get a new figure.

I'm really not that big on a carrying case. I won't really be carrying the action figures farther than one room or the other while playing with them...

um...

not that 30 year olds play with their toys...

often.
