I was wondering, did Carrol Spinney ever perform any other characters on Sesame Street other than his regulars? (Big Bird and Oscar) I know he played Bruno, but what I mean is regular puppet charachters. If he did what were their name(s) and when were they on the show???

During the first two seasons he did a few additional voices, such as:

-an old man who assists Cookie Monster in reading the word SCHOOL
-Lefty the salesman (before Frank took over)
-the AM in the train ("Goin' For a Ride")

He also starred in the Jim Henson Play-Along Video "Wow, You're a Cartoonist!" as two cats named Picklepuss and Pop. He actually created Picklepuss in the 60's before he worked with Henson. Also, in this video, Caroll controls Pop from the inside - I can tell because Pop is the one who draws, just like Caroll.

I can mention a few more amusing appearances:
-Adrian, the orange AM girlfriend of the teenage boy (Jim) who sand "A You're Adorable".
-A mother in a family which demonstrates different ways to group themselves. This voice, which is probably in your heads: "Or you could think of us like this", is Caroll's.
-Bennett Snerf of "What's My Part: Foot". This was not the blue monster in the "nose" skit. Rather, this Bennett Snerf was a nerdy gentlemen AM who chuckled at his own joke. Maybe he was Herbert Birdsfoot's dull brother.

I always figured it was too bad Carroll didn't play some other regular charachters other than Big Bird and Oscar. He seems to be the only puppeteer on Sesame Street who only sticks with his 2 main charachters.

I asked Carol about that when I was at the Book signing. You see, the head was radio controlled so he could draw. Unfortunately, he had to lift his head up, stretching his neck all the way so he could peak out of the costume so he could see what he was drawing.

In fact, he also said he would love to use those characters again in a Christmas special.

Actually, Frank Oz was like that starting in like the late 70s.
