Also,I might add We Can't Change the show.

Why?Elmo. The reason children watch Sesame Street today is because of Elmo.

Yes,we need classic SS characters such as Cookie Monster and Herry and etc.But if nobody watches the show,Sesame Street will be gone and our children won't experience what an amazing show Sesame Street was when we were there age.Think about it,if you take Elmo away PBS takes Sesame Street away.

Be happy we still have Big Bird,Grover,Ernie,Oscar,Cookie Monster, and Two Headed Monster cause if we didn't have them the show will be called 'Elmo Street' and we still have Bob,Susan,Gordon,Gina,Luis, and Maria too.The show still has it's old cast BUT with a change.

In the early 80's I have seen some episodes that you would think Elmo would be the next thing. In the 90's we had elmo BUT with a classic flair of Biff,SUlly,
and etc.If we only has all of the cast from the 90's and the original cast this will really be a show. But again without Elmo no Sesame Street.

Nuff Said.:stick_out_tongue:

Elmo himself was not a bad idea. It's what the producers have done with Elmo in the post-Henson era that has been over the top. I doubt if Henson's people said, "Let's create a new Muppet to take over the show."

Many times actors or performers, who are not officially involved with the production of a show, are able to give ideas that the producers listen to. Let's face it, without Henson's Muppets, CTW didn't have a show. I think that might have given Jim just a little leverage.
Well,as I have stated in past threads;I miss the old SS formats.I watch SS these day, just to keep an eye on the characters,sketches,etc... First of all,in the start of the show(usually takes 12-14 minutes of air time),in some sort of sketch, with the popular muppets(Count,Elmo,Rosita,Zoe,Telly,etc..) doing something with the humans(Gordan,Alan,Bob..).Why do they take so long? That's approx. 1/4 of the show used up. Then you have the 'usual' skits of now:Journey to Ernie,Elmo's World,Count's Number of the Day,Rosita Spanish word of the day,Adventures of Trash Gordon,Cookie with the letter of the day,Global Thingy & Grover's travelling piece. All of those skits/sketches take over 5 minutes each. That is why there is no room for classic skits, any skits with muppets/cartoons,etc... I think the producers need to go back to watch the old formats & see what worked and didn't work.I'm happy that SS is targeting more towards the pre-school child; but SS still needs work, especially putting a time limit on the sketches like Elmo's World & Journey to Ernie and work again on the educational format of the show.
