Business Name Registration

Ok, I'll try it this way then. I have a design for my puppets. I have a name for my business. How do I go about registering my company name and patenting my puppet design? Someone told me awhile back I didnt need a tax number till I sold like $5000. Is this true? I do want to register my company name so it's not taken. Guess that means I'd have to get a tax number then. Should I just get an accountant?

Just call your County Clerk and ask about Business Licenses, and your other questions as well.
