This should maybe go under 'merch', but I wanted to say I really like what Sony Japan and Hot Topic are doing with Sesame Street merchandising...as for too long colelctors over the age of 5 have been ignored. It is finally cool to see Sesame Street marching right alongside the Muppets as far as 'cool' or hip merchandise...be it lp onto cd reissues, cool 'punk' shirts, mini figures, etc.

I think in the 90's they let Sesame fall way too far to the toddler only crowd, as from around 93 to present the emphasis has been heavily on the tikes when it comes to merchandising. Even by the late 80's I remember a lot of cool Sesame stuff for all ages.

I think the coolest new Sesame thing is the Kubricks, followed by this neat "Monsters of Rock" shirt with Grover, Herry, and Frazzle.
There is a new Sesame 3d movie out in Japan, as well as other cool stuff in the pipeline. My hope is that they continue to try and innovate ideas, and mix things up on the now 35 season long Sesame Street show itself...and that Sesame be presented in merch form to all sorts of age groups.

Cannot agree with you more, beaker man!!! It seems however, that Sesame Street is being Dwarfed by Sesame Workshop's Dragon Tales, not by popularity, in media Merchandising Blitz!

As soon as they released Elmo fruitsnacks, they simply had to make DT...

Remember Sesame Magazine? Before it was cancelled, they shoved half of it with Dragons... YUCK!!!

But other than that, we need more Adult T's.. More Pez despencers, more collectibles and less "Baby Sesame" plushies (which don't sell).

We need classic episodes released to DVD, and classic songs on CD...

We Need what the Japanese have....

Amen! Also, its just plain cool to see older Sesame fans getting dues and respect with cool new Sesame merch.

To pu *** bluntly, Sesame Street is all up in the Hot Topic hizzy. Dont believe me? Click here:
http://www.hottopic.com/store/brandPage.asp?LS=0&BRAND_ID=29
(c'mon, cute mod punk girls in Oscar shirts, ya know ya wanna click!)

And that is page 1 of 8! Not to mention even more stuff not on there. I am just astonished at all the new cool Sesame merch, its like finally!
And those Sesame Kubricks are finally trickling into US specialty shops and online. I wish to see a bigger bridge and someday reunification with JHC but for now this trend will do.
