This should maybe go under 'merch', but I wanted to say I really like what Sony Japan and Hot Topic are doing with Sesame Street merchandising...as for too long colelctors over the age of 5 have been ignored. It is finally cool to see Sesame Street marching right alongside the Muppets as far as 'cool' or hip merchandise...be it lp onto cd reissues, cool 'punk' shirts, mini figures, etc.
I think in the 90's they let Sesame fall way too far to the toddler only crowd, as from around 93 to present the emphasis has been heavily on the tikes when it comes to merchandising. Even by the late 80's I remember a lot of cool Sesame stuff for all ages.
I think the coolest new Sesame thing is the Kubricks, followed by this neat "Monsters of Rock" shirt with Grover, Herry, and Frazzle.
There is a new Sesame 3d movie out in Japan, as well as other cool stuff in the pipeline. My hope is that they continue to try and innovate ideas, and mix things up on the now 35 season long Sesame Street show itself...and that Sesame be presented in merch form to all sorts of age groups.
