I just watched the Book Of Pooh DVD and I was wondering about a few things. I read the interview with the creator and so I know they've used Bunraku techniques. If I'm correct there are 3 puppeteers operating each puppet. Can anyone tell me what bodyparts each individual puppeteer operates and how? My thought was that there are atleast 2 puppeteers operating the arms and legs. But I don't get how the body and head are done. Is there a puppeteer in a green suit operating it as a handpuppet perhaps and holding the weight of the entire puppet up? or is this also done through some sort of a bunraku technique? I was also wondering if the eyebrows and eyelids are actually CGI.

The interview said a making-of tape exsists but I couldn't find it. It's not on the DVD because they didn't want to ruin the magic for children by showing them how it's done. I'm really curious about these techniques and I'm looking for Adobe software right now so I can puppeteer using a green screen.

Does anyone know a site with more information on how Bunraku can be mixed with CGI? I can find alot on conventional bunraku but that's not what I'm looking for. Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately there are a few if any resources for doing green screen puppetry. It's actually more like Czech black light puppetry than it is bunraku.

Try looking up old issues of CineFX and American Cinematographer Magazine, they sometimes do articles on movies that use the technique.

I already thought that I'd probably have to figure the details out myself. Today I got some more ideas on how to test this out. I'm going to build a dummy first and try out everything I can think of to animate it. I'll check up on how black light puppetry works aswell then. Maybe I can also get some ideas from that. Thanks for the help.
