I'd use some processed ones, which can be sold at craft stores. They also make some great looking artificial ones that are dyed bright colors. Are you looking to create something realistic or more fantasy?

Well, I read Carrol Spinneys book about Big Bird and how they made him they said that they had to attach every feater one by one, thats the bad part, the Good part it actually would ook like a bird, thats the good part.

There a place on line(I cant think of the name) where you can get all cans of feather I think Turkey Feather would be best,

any puppet's design is going to guide you in the directionand materials you choose,

Puppets with feathers can look great, but they will require special care since feathers will break, and fall off, and if you are using it in a rough manner will get dirty quickly so u will need to replace them(maybe that wont matter the muppet chickens got tossed around quite abit, but would on occasion need to be repaired, u can alos use a combination of diiferent materials, maybe fur with afew feathers stuck in it to give a indication that it is a feathery creature with out going all the way to a totaly feathered covering,

Using feathers

When I’ve worked with feathers, I usually glue them in with a glue gun. I do want to echo what James said about feathered puppets needing special care. Once the feathers start to break, your puppet will start looking ratty really quick. Our puppets get a lot of use and that’s why I usually stay away from feathers. I made a chicken for our puppet show “Prairie Dog Pete and the Magic Buffalo” and used craft fur instead of feathers.
