I'm right there with you, furryred! There is absolutely nothing wrong with Bert.
He is the persona that brings balance to the character combination of him and Ernie. In a sense, he is the "strait man", (or serious character). Without him, most of the things that Ernie does would have no way of being funny!

I may be in the minority here, but I did think the "Bert Is Evil" site was funny. The reason being was because I've always thought Bert was the type to snap and go crazy at least once. (C'mon! Looking after Ernie is no picnic! Imagine being responsible for him day and night! 24/7!)
