WOW!

Well, I got to go down to Biloxi, MS, and (at the Grand Casino) saw the sequel to "Cirque du Soleil" called Balagan (hence the title of this thread).

I just want to say, WOW!

There was a hilarious clown-type juggler guy who was doing some good old-fashioned Vaudevillian humor, very Stan Laurel-ish in style. Then, the rest of the show was just crazy.

So much strength in the performers' bodies and arms to do all that work climbing, flying, jumping. I'm totally impressed!

There was a woman who hula hooped about 50 hoops. A guy that flew around by some long pieces of material, and kid who kept his body perfectly horizontal while facing the floor dangling from 2 ropes which he wrapped his arms around and climbed UP (still horizontally facing the floor). He got to the top of the ropes, turned 2 flips, then faced the floor again and put his arms right behind him and took a nose-dive toward the floor and stopped himself about a foot from the stage!!

There was the weird 'host' of the show who was writing about what was going on in a giant book, and he ended up getting a wheel that had pedals (no seat) and had actually 2 of them spinning in circles. He'd run over and jump onto the pedals without fail and pedal to catch up to the other wheel and jump from wheel to wheel, pedals to pedals!!

There was so much to see, so many acrobatics, it was amazing!

I also liked all the weirdness to it. Looked like something Gonzo would have his hand into, and it was very Muppet Show-esque with the little side things going on during the acts! I loved it.

If you have a chance to see either Cirque (which I have yet to see) or Balagan...please do.

Very funny you should mention that as the Beau Rivage in Biloxi actually presented the Cirque show Alegria (originally was a touring show, then took up residence) for two years before it headed off to Australia. The show is being retired at the end of 2013...
