The Jim Henson Figure

I had wondered what the Jim Henson figure would look like for many months. Turns out that it's a muppety-looking version of him, as opposed to a realistic approach. Okay, I can accept that. But can't we get a smile on him? The figure looks a bit ghostly and grim. Jim smiled a LOT.

Ken,

is there any plans in the future for a chase muppets figure. One that would be packed 1 per 5 cases or so. I think that would be a very good idea and i'm pretty sure it would do wonders for The Muppet show line.
personally I think that would be kind of a bad idea. Not everyone has a chance to go to the stores like, everyday, or a lot of money to get it off eBay or something if they found it.

I'm not certain if you are familiar with the the Jim puppet, but this is an exact replica. It is what Ken has talked about since he released the info. There was never to be a "realistic" depiction of Jim Henson. The puppet didn't have a smile either. Actually, it would probably look goofy if he did - like giving Zoot a smile. I see nothing grim about the puppet or the figure. It looks exactly as Jim Henson intended.

Okay, but a puppet is made for movement and expression by the puppeteer. They are given life when maneuvered. I have seen the Jim Henson puppet. But an action figure is trapped inside only one expression with no possibility for facial transformation. I need another look at the original puppet, but if it's an exact replica, then maybe it's okay. I haven't ever seen the Jim Henson puppet "move,"-- has he ever been used? Or just created for display?

Puppet Jim only made it into a few episodes of the Muppet Show. He is a simple country banjo pickin' Muppet with kind of a quiet pensive demeanor. He was not jolly and I don't remember him ever being given happy expressions. Those who are familiar the puppet knows that it's spot on. This figure also has to through the Henson Foundation - not the usual corporate Henson channels. That means there is much more scrutiny on the feel and likeness of this character to make certain that it best represents Jim Henson and the puppet.

Muppet Jim is also featured in the open theme during the "It's time to put on makeup. It's time to dress up right" part.

I don't think he's spot on, extremely close though. I think the skin tone is one shade too pale. Yes, Jim was very pale, but thats very very pale. Just a nitpick though. It'll look better with the texture.

I don't see anything bad with having an action figure of the Jim muppet, Palisades are in the business of making Muppet figures and it's a muppet Jim made. Now if they were to start making figures of Real life Jim Henson, or any of the dead guest stars - i think THAT kind of thing would be inappropiate and gross.

I guess if the club expands and support for the line builds even more maybe they'll be able to do the other Muppeteers, one a year or something. Not sure the others would sell anywhere near as much as Jim though and i guess they'd have to pay the people - personally the Muppeteer type figures don't really turn me on at all but then thats me.

As for me i'm still waiting for Dr Phil Van Neuter, Modern Gonzo, Vacation Rats Mini-Playset, Afro Kermit and a Clueless Morgan would be nice. Looking forward to seeing what Vacation Pepe is gonna turn out like with all the gear on (although i think the arms look ugly and the paint job the last time around was pretty naff) and can't wait to see the accessories i suggested for Clifford - the old style microphone and the clapper board. Aerosmiths directors chair was shown in a 'bit' and looked fantastic !
