ah, maybe that's the problem...i'm too subtle...i just EMAIL OUT THE LIST AROUND CHRISTMAS TIME AND MY BIRTHDAY (may) oh well...

for a real question:

Ken, there are now packaged photos of VS Fozzie...am i right in thinking that i can see the magnet in his hat? (i hope i hope)

BTW, anyone who hasn't gotten their "join the club" email from Palisades, go check out their site...they have a list of people they can't seem to contact so they can get everybody covered.

thank ken for the pics, he sent them to me, and i posted them up on scs.

and wouldn't the magnet have to be on both the hat and in fozzie's head to actually work and keep the hat on?

femuppetinism

Hi to all--

i'm a new poster, and i've been lurking on the site for awhile now. i'm really excited about the new figures, (particularly the electric mayhem and all the muppets with musical instruments like rowlf, gonzo, marvin suggs, and lips(!))

my question for ken is this: due to a number of reasons, there are very few female muppet characters. some muppets are easily appealing and enjoyable without consideration of gender, but there's no denying that the muppet show cast is mostly a boys' club. and this has had an effect on female/girl fans.

in planning the groupings of the figures' releases, has attention been paid to the idea of including female muppets in each set? i know this may seem ridiculously pc and not so crucially important, but there is a possibilty that a set may not sell as well if it doesn't include girl muppets... (unfortunately, there aren't enough girl muppets to spread around...)

i would suggest that a prime female character be included in each set. this may mean changing janice's release date, or changing the release dates of variant miss piggy's (pigs in space or nurse piggy may work). it may simply mean including camilla or the "other female pig". it may mean that when you do consider doing muppet-movie-related characters, you focus heavily on females (look to Emmet Otter, Fraggles, Manhattan, Muppet Babies, etc. if ya must)

i dunno...just some ideas...what do ya'll think?

Welcome to the board!!!!!!

I think your idea of including female Muppets is a noble one and I have mentioned it as well, but there simply aren't enough female characters to include - and the ones other than Miss Piggy and Janice are just not that widely known. "The other female pig" as you have called her is Annie Sue. She is somewhat of a fan fave, but can we expect consumers to buy her when some of the few who remember her can't remember her name? And can we expect retailers to stock such a figure?

Here's a run down of female Muppets:
Miss Piggy
Janice
Annie Sue Pig
Mildred
Hilda
Miss Mousey
Camilla (will be a future pack-in)
Spamela (from Muppets Tonight)
Johnny's Mama (from Muppets Tonight)
Skeeter (only appeared on the animated Muppet Babies program)

Only Piggy, Janice and Camilla are really likely and if there are 14 waves planned out in the future, you can see the difficulty Palisades would run into. Should they neglect releasing Lew Zeland or Zoot for the 5th version of Miss Piggy or Hilda (who won't likely be a good seller) just to ensure some sort of political correctness?

Just saying that if Henson were to make more popular female Muppets they certainly would be represented, but I don't really see this as an issue for Palisades. I would buy a Mildred and Annie Sue and have actually tried to gather support for them around this board, but it just seems like they would hurt the line and that's no good.

Maybe we'll just have to settle for Pepe in a tutu.

But Skeeter adds the Muppet Babies dynamic that I hope Palisades will steer clear of! A grown up Skeeter would be cool, but Henson would porbably have to release a puppet character for that to happen.

It's just that there has been a Muppet Baby over-kill in the past. So big that I believed it ruined the Muppets reputation for a decade and still effects it today. I really hope that any and all Muppet Babies will just disappear for a very long time. Just my thoughts.

Go Mrs. Bear! Go Mrs. Bear! If you can't make it, we won't care! (Well... I will...)

Why didn't you mention Fozzie's Mother?

I mean... I love Mrs. Bear ("Oh! You're the lizard...")!!!

Do you guys think that Mrs. Bear could be made by just changing some little things in Fozzie's Figure? It wouldn't be that hard...

She DID apear in The Muppet Show, so I don't think that it is that absurd to think about her as a Figure...

The question is - "Would she sell"? (If I had the possibility I WOULD buy her)

Wouldn't it be great to have Vacation Fozzie having to take Mrs. Bear with him on his trips... Or even having Mrs. Bear proudly watching Invisible Fozzie washing his hands like she taught him... Or just having the regular Fozzie hammering Kermit's neck and Mrs. Bear watching... (By the way, does Fozzie come with a little hammer? He MUST come a little hammer!)

Anyone with me?

Thank you!
