Wow...one day off the board and a deluge...

The move went great. Now we have a million and one boxes to unpack, sort out and all that. But you know what? It's kind of fun to set up 1000 toys in an office space.

John Steffens Ken,
With some of the muppets, basically to some of them, all they have to them is accerories and not wardrobes.
So, could you release Muppet accerories??

Been considering that for a long time. If the collector's club takes off, you can bet on it.

frogboy4 What if Disney buys Henson? Will the figures continue on? Just concerned frogboy.

No worries. We have a contract through 2005.

ZootandDingo and matleo
have you guys thought about what colors you're going to use for the Zoot repaint? I was in the fabric store theother day and saw this pasley print and thought "That would be an awesome short for Zoot!" And it owul be in character. I think in Muppets celebrate Jim Henson (or some special) this is how Zoot dressed. it was just like his old shirt but with a pasley pattern on it. You might even be able to figure out a way to do a paint shield of some sort for it too if it really is a pattern. Hmmmm....
And if I may add to Matt's question, has it been decided if the Zoot repaint will also have a different skin tone as Zoot did throughout different seasons?

The Zoot repaint is already made and approved. It is far simpler than any of these descriptions, and the skin is the same on both.

FOZZI3B3AR Muppet Central Exclusive Figs!!

That has been on my mind for some time. You have all been the most supportive group through all of this. We are just waiting for the right time to do something like that, but who knows when that will be?

Crazy Harry Will the reporter Kermit be waring pants?

Yes, but no shoes.

MaxGoof Ken: I know that companies order the toys from you before they ever even get on the boat... since Series 2 is due to be shipped to retailers next month, that Series must have already sold sufficient boxes to be produced... When will we know for certain that Series 3's production is a lock, stock, 100% certainty, not a chance they'll be canceled, good to go set? I would guess not until October or November...?

Doesn't quite work that way, but to fully explain it will take too long. I will just say that as far as I am concerned Series 3 is a lock, so is Series 4-7 for the most part. At least that is how I am operating. Aside from some disaster in the line, it seems likely enough that the support will continue to be there for the continuation of the line. But we could use more, so if you could tell your friends or others get 'em on board and that will make the stuff able to be produced in the type of numbers that will make it all definitive.

Squigiman Hey Ken,
Just chiming in with a response to your response to my last question. Anyways, I sorta figured it maybe worked like that, you selling the toys in bulk to the stores, then them passing them on to the consumers, like us, but am semi-confused about that process. Ya see, in doing so wouldn't that mean that a poorly-selling line would do just as well as a good-selling line? With this being in place, couldn't you just make a so-so toy line, as opposed to say the excellence of the TMS line of yours, and then once they're sold to the stores, just laugh and shout "SUCKERS!!!!!" all the way to the bank??? Well, I can't wait to see your explanation for this, as it entices me.

Anyone who answered this had some good points, but the most important is this. You know when items are at clearance at a TRU or some other store? Who do you think pays for that? Manufacturer. So if the line does not sell, the retailer wants "clearance dollars", a credit against their future purchases. Well, if you want their future purchases, you give them the clearance. That is why you try to make toys that sell and sell through well...you want to keep getting the line into TRU, build and audience and avoid clearance.

But no, it is not over after we sell INTO TRU...they can still get money out of us if the line tanks.

dr. gorry ken how did you shoot gonzo outta the canonn without breaking him?

He does not shoot that far really. Basically, he can't. Safet tests. And also he had no real fragile parts, like glasses, on him. I have been testing it consistently for four days, by pointing him directly at the wall. Nothing has broken yet!

Aerosmith Ill post this again. Have you thought of saleing the bases threw the collectors club?

Thought about it. Not sure if the demand would be there, since you get one with each figure. Although I am considering dropping the bases as of Series 3 in favor of a cooler accessory in there. In which case there might be a market for selling them on the website. May throw a small disc in there for difficult to stand figures, but for the most part leave the base in favor of an extra piece the figure can interact with.

Whew...

Ken,

From my experiences of these things, this isn't entirely true as far as 'no worries', at least as far as my basic knowledge of things goes. Disney can buy themselves out of any of Henson's merchandising contracts can they not ? I think if memory serves me, WWFE bought out WCW/Turners action figure contract when they purchased the company. Disney are more heavyweight than that - it is more than likely they would buy out the Columbia contract so that they could distribute via Buena Vista. They also have their own merchandising partners - who's to say they might want to make action figures through their own people ? I guess that Palisades can refuse this kind of thing from happening but Disney can make things very difficult for people sometimes.

Also if Disney were to purchase Henson it is most likely that there would be quite a noticable period of downtime where Henson people/puppets didn't make any appearances, the Henson TV shows and movies that are supposed to be getting on air could well be delayed or cancelled while Disney decide how they want to procede and for JHC to be restructured. While that wouldn't directly concern the action figures, it could mean a complete dissapearance of the Muppets from the media for about six months. I take it that things would be easier for you if there was a greater public profile and the Muppets had a show continually on air - so if there was the scenario that there was even less than now, i take it you guys could survive (like you are doing now) on the hardcore collectors/fans but it would be a pain in the wazzoo for ya ?

I know these are all disaster scenarios that we'd rather not talk about and hopefully will never be as bad, but they certainly are possibilites so could you expand on 'No Worries' ? I won't even begin to ask about what happens if EMTV goes bust !

OK, point taken. By "no worries" I specifically mean that I am not even going to worry about it until it does, if it does. Why stress over something that I have absolutely no power to control, know what I mean? I am just gonna keep going according to plan and make adjustments only IF they need to happen!

Yeah i totally agree with you. Just thought that they were the kinda scenarios that the ol'Frogboy was concerned about so it was worth pointing out. I'm sure (well i hope) things will turn out ok !

Ken, my dad finally got a digital camera, and I was able to take a really nice picture of my collection with the backdrop of the Empire State Building. Do you want me to send you the pic, if so, to what e-mail address? Also, should I send it with any written text or information?

No--you're totally wrong here. Toybiz's contract with WCW still hasn't ended. Up until now, they were still releasing new WCW figures like Mike Awesome--the problem was, no one wanted them. You can still find a HUGE supply of these last figures at discount stores and Kay-Bees because they really bombed. Toybiz has the contract--but there's not much they can do making figures for a dead company which no longer employs ANY wrestlers.

In other words--the contract is binding, legal, 100%. Nobody but nobody can take it away.

: : So when are the next wave of Muppets hitting the stores??::

They ship then [late September/early October], so stores will have them on shelf in late
October/early November for the longer distribution cycle stores.
Ken, you just posted this over on the RTM Board... I'm confused... I thought the next series with Fozzie and Gonzo was supposed to ship in August, and be on shelves in late August/early September... now they're not coming out for a whole two more months! What caused the delay? Does this mean there's absotively posilutely no chance of Series 3 and much more importantly The Swedish Chef this year?

Ken, I'm quite new here, and I was trying to find out info on the collectors club you started, but I keep getting "Delivery Failure" everytime I try to e-mail you. Can you give me some info?
