Hey i also got the single of Your So Vain by: Carly Simon, but i don't know what that song really means.
The song is about a self-absorbed lover whom Carly Simon apparently knew very well. Since the song came out in the early 1970s, it has been a favorite "guessing game" as to who the vain fellow in the song actually is.

The two most popular candidates are Mick Jagger (who sang background vocals on the song) and actor Warren Beatty. In fact, Beatty has publicly stated that the song is about him, although Simon still remains mum on the subject.

Other possible candidates: James Taylor (Simon's ex-husband), Kris Kristofferson and Cat Stevens.

Simon performed the song on SNL in May, 1976, with Chevy Chase playing a cowbell, and singing background vocals.
