It's been announced that a brand-new Fraggle Rock series is in production and is set to premier in 2020. It will feature a mix of new and old characters, and taking place after the original series wrapped up. The debut episode will find the Fraggles and Gorgs at odds against each other again when the Fraggles realize they still need to steal radishes and the Gorgs decide they don't like this at all.
Reportedly, Dave Goelz, Kathryn Mullen, and Karen Prell will reprise their roles, while Kevin Clash will perform Wembley, John Tartaglia will perform Gobo, Matt Vogel will perform Pa Gorg and Marjoury, and David Rudman will perform Junior and Gunge. No word yet on whether Doc and Sprocket will be recast/included or how they'll be incorporated. And following in his father's footsteps, Brian Henson will perform in a couple of episodes each season, in addition to directing from time to time, and even Frank Oz has been confirmed to perform in one episode. No word yet on what kinds of characters they'll be performing.
Upon being asked why more Fraggle Rock is being produced, Brian Henson had to say, "we have two important reasons. One is that, in today's troubled times, this show is needed more than ever. And the other reason is so that those who bought all the episodes on DVD or Blu-ray will have to buy more, and these additions give us a a new reason to keep rereleasing The Complete Series for years to come."
Each episode will also end with some kind of life-lesson, misinterpreted by one of the Fraggles.
No word yet on what channel or streaming device this will air on.
