Didn't Gaffer appear backstage in nearly all of the later episodes? Just wondering.
I'm assuming that by "later" episodes you were talking about the last season episodes. Gaffer didn't appear in the Gene Kelley episode (oddly enough, Foo Foo was in Gaffer's usual spot during the closing number), and I'm 99 percent sure that Gaffer wasn't in the Lorretta Switt episode (I only sawe this episode on Nickelodeon, which edited out the veterinarians hospital scene, so I don't know who the patient was).

In another post I learned of another appearance by gaffer. Gaffer appeared in the Muppet Labs skit from the Andy Williams episode (although gaffer didn't wear her eye patch or bandage).

Gaffer is also backstage when Buddy Rich "plays the theatre."

The line in The Cat Came Back is "HE didn't want to roam."
