Anything Muppet eye and nose attachments

Does anyone know how Henson designed the eye and nose attachments for Anything Muppets? Are they held on by velcro, magnets, or something else? I remember a segment as a child (1970s) when they repeatedly removed and replaced the facial features. I don't remember there being any pegs or anything like that.
