I didn't know whether this should go in here or in General Discussion.
I decided to try here though.
Are there any people who used to watch the Basil Brush Show on television.
It was a musical comedy show whose main host was a puppet fox by the name of Basil Brush. He was the only puppet. He hosted and worked in some skits with all the people.
Well you can understand I'm sure why I was in a toss up as to which section it should go in. But if there are any Basil Brush fans out there please share your memories with me.
Oh and if it's considered by most that it should go in General you may ask a moderator to ensure it gets moved okay?

Actually looking more closely at what sort of topics are in these threads I realize I should have classified Basil Brush as a general discussion topic. So can a moderator kindly oblige by moving this thread as soon as possible please?

I've watched it a few times  But I'm not a big fan or anything. From what I've seen it's a good show though.
What do you mean by "used to watch?" Was it canceled then?

(I only hang out at the puppetry section of the forums actually. So I personally don't mind you posting it here)

I dunno, Basil is a puppet after all - http://www.basilbrush.com

The puppet is by Darryl Worbey Studios btw - http://www.darrylworbeystudios.com
Yes I know that Basil is a puppet but since all the other topics seem to be about the art of making puppets, performing them etc. and Basil was a puppet hosting a television show I couldn't help but wonder whether it should be moved to General or not.:concern:
But I shall leave that decision up to the discretion of the moderators.
And I shall talk to you about him in this thread in more conversation next time.

So anybody remember how Basil hosted his own variety show? I think he usually had a human co-star who more or less played straight man to him bearing the brunt of his sarcastic comedy. I can't remember a lot about the old shows except that they used to be very funny with some music as well.
One skit I do remember is when Basil was playing a judge at a trial of a man accused of murdering his wife. As Basil was trying to open the case he couldn't stop coughing. Then the prisoner in the bar asked "Would you like one of my coughdrops your honour?"
Basil agreed, thanked him and a policeman took a little coughdrop and gave it to him. It quickly stopped his coughing and he opened the case thus.
"You are accused of murdering your wife with a coughdrop laced with poison.":frown:
Then he keeled over on his side, raised his head, said "Hoo boy" and completely collapsed again. LOL:big_grin:
Share with me if you like any skits you remember and I'll share some more I remember if you don't beat me to them.

I've seen the new Basil Brush Show and do not like it one bit I'm afriad. I find his laugh annoying and the kids on it are annoying aswell. I'm sure the older show was better

The Original Basil Brush show was miles better than the new one Basil's original performer Ivan Owen died shortly before the new series went into production so they had to train some new guy to do his voice etc but i dont think he does the laugh that well the old show wasnt directed at kids really.
