Anyone in L.A.? And movie ...

Just wondering if any of the talented amateur puppetmakers and puppeteers here were living close to Los Angeles. I'm fond of puppets, and like performing them, but don't own any Muppetlike creations ... I am not that great at building things, though I've certainly tried on many occasions and built puppets for movies of mine. I make a LOT of films (eight features to date and over a dozen shorts) and use puppetry in some of them, and wouldn't mind chatting with anyone in the area with interest in this ...

In addition, I am currently finishing up work on a 3-hour romantic drama called Gods of Los Angeles, and there is a dream sequence in the film which involves a dragon ... shot very carefully so that you only see a silhouette, the glistening black scales, and burning red eyes ... I always wanted some of this to be a puppet, and a sculpture and ... just wondering if there are any dragon enthusiasts here who might have black realistic dragon models/puppets, anywhere in the U.S., and might want to help construct this sequence by photographing them ... or could or would want to build something like that ....

Our shop is just finishing up a large Smaug dragon puppet from "The Hobbit" for a production in the US and we will be making it available for rental very soon. It's just the head and neck and is about 16 feet long and can stand 11'0 off the ground. You can email me privately if this sort of thing can help you out.

Just for fun, I did a concept painting of the dragon today. I definitely had the opening sequence of the Jim Henson Hour in the back of my mind as I did this ... very quickly done.
