This is pretty interesting. Unfortunately, I don't know any more than you. The link that you provided seems to be about the most substantive info out there on the show, but you could also look at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0173582/ or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Orson_Welles_Show
for a list of all the muppet characters involved. Apparently, the show was yanked after one pilot (maybe because Welles was so stiff?) I've heard that there may be some bootleg copies available somewhere, if you swing that way...

One other interesting sidenote, is that this unaired pilot of 1979 was the same year that Welles appeared in TMM in a cameo. I guess it was his brief muppet phase!

Its the most strangest, bizzare, worst muppet interview ever, seriously. Orson Welles randomly talks about the connection between Frank Oz and "The Wizard of Oz." Its so stupid.

It's very heavily edited and plays real weird. Jim seems to say about 2 words on it, and the Muppets are intercut throughout the second half of the show reacting oddly to things in the show. Gonzo's kinda funny messing up the cue cards, but it's not their best work. Interesting, but no sweat if you miss it. I expected more from Mr. Wells.

Yeah, I could tell even from the production photos that Jim and Frank were not exactly having a swell time with 'ole Orson. Frank actually looks like he's at a funeral. :frown:
