Athena is an owl. She's Hoots' granddaughter.

I don't know anything about Aristotle, except that he/she was a monster friend of Telly's in the early 80s.

I remember!

Aristotle (Ari for short) was a purple/blueish monster performed by Richard Hunt, and get this- he was blind! I thought it was really neat the way they incorporated him into the street scenes, just like with Linda being deaf.

He seemed to relate just fine with kids, and he never let his blindness get in the way of living a happy life. I really liked him, and it's too bad he didn't last longer. But groovy nonetheless

I've never seen Aristotle, but I recently watched an episode in which he was mentioned. It's one of the episodes where Big Bird goes to camp. Big Bird sent a letter home, and Luis is reading it to Telly. Telly gets upset when he hears that Big Bird has a new friend named Rusty because he doesn't think Big Bird will want to be his friend anymore. Luis points out to Telly that he has a new friend too (Aristotle). Once Telly realizes that he wants to be friends with both Aristotle and Big Bird he calms down. Thanks for the info on the character. I was wondering who Telly was talking about.

I read that on the Yesterdayland message boards, but never quite believed it since no one else knew about him. Now I know it's true. It's great that we finally got some info on him.

By the way, do you know what kind of voice he had? Was it like a monstery voice, or like Scooter?

for Muppetdude

Richard Hunt performed Aristotle. His voice was something like Scooter's, very smooth and quiet. I think it was nice for Richard to have a calm character in contrast to the psychotic extremes of Don Music and Forgetful Jones. As I remember, if Ari had to get up and leave for some reason, he would put his hand on a kid's shoulder and let them lead him wherever he needed to go. That was a nice way of putting his trust in children and letting children know they're being very helpful. He wasn't featured on the show very long, but I was always touched by his gentle nature, and the way kids seemed to gravitate to him.
I also remember Telly and some others coming to him for advice. Although he couldn't see, he was a very good listener. It's too bad they didn't develop his character more. Maybe next time around.

So wait a second... Fuzzygobo, you say that Ari and Aristotle are the same character? Hmm, I have them listed as separate entries in my ML cause I thought they were two different characters. In one of the defaced issues of SS Magazine still in my book shelves, one of the first ones I believe which was sponsored by the letter A, there's an exercise somewhere in its pages about writing. There's a big drawing of a notepad and a few Muppet characters whose names start with A at the bottom of the page. Aristotle was featured here and from what I remember he didn't seem to be blind. He had what might resemble Beaker's flame red hair, light blueish fur, a dark red or maroon nose, and an orange lip like Grover's.
If you have any definitive info on whether these are two different characters or the same-self character, please LMK and I'll ammend the entries in my Muppet Listings.
Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.
