And so, American animation comes even closer to death.....

Well, it was dead long before this. Rugrats was the beginning of the end for American animation, sad to say.
I BEG to differ.... The initial Nicktoons line up, and infact the very concept of Nicktoons took animation to a whole new level in the 1990's. Sure, I may not be Rugrats' biggest fan (I liked Chuckie and the adults, myself), shows like that paved the way for other cable networks to do original animation. I wish someone had the guts to try that again, but it seems everyone's preoccupied with a certain age group and a certain gender, we all know what I mean, so I don't have to bring it back up. Suffice to say, other live action programs didn't kill animation the way it did. Power Rangers seemed to Co-mingle with other shows on FOX (until they got too greedy, and added clones produced by Saban and he took over the network). And NBC's Teen NBC didn't bother kids who loved cartoons at all. You either watched it or you didn't.

But Let's just say a big steaming pile of crap hit the fan from all directions. The mind numbing crazy regulations on kid's programming made it impossible to turn a huge profit off the stuff, leaving many companies like Warner Brothers (BOOOO! HISSS!) to abandon everything but the occasional DTV comic book film.

Personally, I am not just frustraited with my future, but also the escapism that cartoons so lovingly provided me for years. They got me through some real tough times, no doubt. But kids today think everything made for their age bracket specifically is for "Babies," and make mommy and Daddy go out and buy them an X-Box and GTA (without checking out the ratings).

Frogboy did bring up an interresting point. The sad thing is, the only profitable stuff is just so disposable. Adult Swim's bottom of the barrel stuff, for instance. And trust me, Family Guy was a LOT better before it pandered hopelessly to the same Frat Boy audience everyone's cosying up to.

And yes, I've been working to get even cheap equipment for the last year and a half. The computer in and of itself was a daunting task that was 3 years in the making (and I'm still paying it off). One of my biggest problems is that I need to make a new Demo reel. One that's 4 years old won't cut it.

I too have heard about FOX canceling their SM lineup. I guess it'll start feeling like the 70's and 80's to me again where there was no FOX Kids, just CBS, NBC, and ABC SM cartoons. Except they're now E/I controlled and there's also CW4Kids too.

I wanted to be a cartoonist all my life. I kept mailing my works to different cartoon studios but got rejections. They said my works are worthwhile projects, but they're not ready to go into that direction yet. So now, I just write fanfiction on the net. It's kind of a way of getting my creativity exposed to the public.

And of course, to fill that requirement, only because they have to, they just rerun stuff from cable channels that they own or have partnerships for. of course, ABC gets good ratings for a certain 2 shows, once agian remaining nameless, and no one watches NBC's Qubo. Sure, I like 321 Penguins, and Veggitales is alright, but have you heard of something called "Speed Dogs" or "Racing Dogs" or something like that? Pure garbage.

So Kudos to 4Kids for being the last company to actually care about working to sort of make money, instead of passing the buck.

Well, I really do like John Lassiter and how he has so muhc power and Disney and how he is a fan of traditional animation and how he wants to bring it back. This makes not able to wait for The Princess And The Frog and there upcoming Rapunzel! I serious think that they are headed in the right direction this time and that they are going to return to forum in a big way. Like in the way they did with The Little Mermaid kind of big! And I think the other animations studios will stand up and take notice! I think that When Disney is at their best and nothing can even compete with them. And call me naive, but I think that they will breath new life into traditional animation once again.

I hope if that is true it will help cartoons on tv to...By the way, what did happen to the people that made the first Rugrats and Doug anyway? What are they doing now?
I really liked their style of drawing

Isn't this the kind of views the creator of Ren & Stimpy had about animation?

Lol my fave Nicktoon is/was The Angry Beavers. I liked the style of drawing more than anything else, but it seemed so "stupid" in a way that it was hilarious, esp. with tricks like fourth wall breaks.

Nah, his is "Everything sucks except Bob Clampett and stuff my friends make." Don't get me wrong, I love the guy's stuff, but he's in the possition where he CAN get together a flash website (and he did years ago) and put his great cartoons online. Me? I don't care if all we get are crappy cartoons like Chaotic, Saturday morning is a proud tradition we've had since the 1960's. To lose this because of blind apathy is just... so sorts of crappy on so many levels.

I think the one thing Igor did right was to give control of the animation studio to Pixar. What they should have done was ALSO give them their television animation studio. Could you imagine? They have so much potential for great TV cartoons, and I'd love to see an Incredibles series similar to the Buzz Lightyear cartoon (something non-canonical, that actually exists as a TV show in their world). And they were considering, or close to considering a POTC series, but dropped it for Phinas and Ferb...

I think Klasky Csupo is now animating Spongebob... Jim Jenkins of Doug... I don't know what he's up to recently, but he was also behind PB&J Otter and Pinky Dinky Doo. There was something else I think he was going to work on, but I forget the name of it.

Yeah, I heard about that! It would have made perfect sense to do! Hopefully the next step after this is to revive the television animation.

They won't. It's too late. The time to strike was last year... they decided to make a TV E/I show they could just pawn off and reuse on ABC Saturday mornings, and nothing happened. I did like the idea of Emperor's New School, but they are in such a rush to cancel it. The other 2 shows they planned to work on were Robin Hood or a really bad Aristocats cartoon series where all the kittens are teenagers. Thank Frog that didn't come to pass.

But that Robin Hood cartoon sounded like a good idea. Really it did. They need some sort of big action or action comedy show
to revive their television animation studios... but they didn't think they could, again, pawn it off and reuse it on saturdays so they can make less effort for that.
