I'vejust watched Hey Sexy Kathy. Excellent Snowthy. I see Kathy's co-stars are listed and one of them is Drew Carey. I seem to recall hearing about something called the Drew Carey show talked about being on Aussie television when I was a kid. Is it the same Drew Carey perhaps?

Yes. Drew Carey is a well known comedian here in America. He had his own sit-com in 1995-2004, and later in 1998, when Whose Line Is It Anyway? began production, he was hired to host it, which he did.
