THE LONG AWAITED UPDATE!!! Here is an update, and I have to admit...I've joined the mushy gushy club too...
Anyway, my big project seems to be complete at work for now, so HOPEFULLY I'll have time to update again. Trust me, there will be much more to come after this chapter yet!
Chapter Eight:
No one made a sound, no one dared do anything. Wanda stood frozen at the top of the stairs coming out of the dressing room. She had heard everything.
Finally Kermit stepped forward. "Um Rowlf? Do you want one of us to go after him?" he asked.
Rowlf couldn't say anything, he just shook his head yes.
Kermit immediately stepped into leadership mode. "All right then, Gonzo, Fozzie, Scooter and Clifford, you guys are going to split up with me and we'll go find Moe and bring him back here. The rest of you get back to what you were doing, there's nothing more to see here!" exclaimed Kermit.
Still, no one moved.
"GO!!!!" yelled Kermit and waved his arms madly. With that suddenly everyone was a flutter of talking and soon the theatre returned to somewhat normal chaos.
"Rowlf, you know what you need to do right now don't you?" asked Kermit walking by his distressed oldest friend.
"Yeah," he mumbled, the first words he was able to form after the outburst as he looked up towards the stairs. He had to go see Wanda.
"We'll find Moe and make this right, don't worry," said Kermit and ran off to start looking with the others he had assigned to the task of finding the eager dog.
"Thanks Kermit," Rowlf managed to choke out after him. He was shaking. Partly due to his outburst with Moe, but more from fear of what Wanda had heard.
Wanda meanwhile had staggered back into the dressing room.
"Bawk?" asked Camilla as she signed to Wanda asking if she was ok.
"I don't know right now, I'm a little in shock at the moment. I mean, Rowlf had been acting funny before Moe came, you know overally affectionate and even a little timid around me. Then Moe came and he didn't really have time for me anymore. Then jealousy rears it's ugly head, I mean come on, I wasn't really going to go out with Nick," said Wanda.
"Like, he's been through alot over the last year and he like rully loves you and then the bro came and it just rully complicates things you know?" said Janice in her typical valley girl style. Wanda understood what she meant though.
"It has been one roller coaster, that's for sure," said Wanda.
"Um, can I come in" said Rowlf softly as he came into the doorway.
"Come on Camilla, like, let's go see what color dresses we'll be wearing in this week's opening number," said Janice. The chicken quickly followed her out of the room.
The two of them sat in silence for a moment.
"You know, we seem to have this problem with communication here don't we?" said Wanda point blank breaking the thick tension.
"Yeah, that and timing," said Rowlf almost chuckling as he began to relax.
"I wasn't going to go out with Nick Lachey you fool," said Wanda.
"I know that," said Rowlf.
"It hurts that you didn't trust me," said Wanda.
"I overheard you say you liked the attention," said Rowlf.
"Oh...well, I guess I was feeling a little neglected and maybe a little angry about Moe, but that was wrong. I see that now. Moe needs you," said Wanda.
"I just hope the guys find him so I can make things right. He and I have been dancing around whatever it is that's bothering him. I think we need to talk and then I need to help him get the help he really needs," said Rowlf.
"I think there's alot of things that we could change for the better," said Wanda.
"You're right," said Rowlf. They embraced as their anger began to dissolve. Suddenly Rowlf knew the moment was right and wasn't going to get any better than this.
"There's something I could change for the better starting right now," said Rowlf.
"What's that?" asked Wanda.
"Wanda, ever since you've come back into my life, my world has been a better place. I've been a better dog! We make beautiful music together, my heart is always filled with a song when you're around," said Rowlf.
Wanda's eyes began to well up with tears as she suspected what was happening.
Rowlf got down on one knee and took Wanda's paw in his.
"I'm better with music than I am with words, but what I'm trying to say is, I love you Wanda, will you marry me?" asked Rowlf.
A small sob escaped Wanda's mouth as she whisped "Yes, I love you too," and they embraced again. All problems with Moe were temporarily forgotten, the chaos from everyone downstairs ignored. This moment was all about the two of them.
