An interesting thing about the Muppet Show Theme

Elsewhere at Muppet Central I did start a thread on the middle part of the Sesame Street Theme http://forum.muppetcentral.com/showthread.php?t=15571
On it I wondered if the middle part of that theme was ever sung on a regular basis. I know now it wasn't. Mind you, I do remember something like that did happen with The Muppet Show. The middle section was sung during the first season, but for the next three, only heard in instrumental form (like with Sesame Street). Then for the final season, it gained new lyics sung by Statler and Walldoph (sp?) whearas before they were sung by Kermit.
The first season words are:
To introduce our guest star
That's what I'm here to do,
So it really makes me happy
To introduce to you...
For the final season, the middle eight has these words:
Why do we always come here?
I guess we'll never know.
It's like a kind of torture
To have to watch the show.

In the only episodes I ever saw when I was little I think they always used the last season theme even for older episodes...
