LOL!!! That reminds me, I was singing at Mass a couple of weeks ago, and one of my friends came up and told me I should be on American Idol!!!! I responded that I thought I had more talent that THAT!!!!

Eeeeek! I hit a sour note. Ahh, it's just Idol. The pretty ones are usually the last to go. LOL!

It starts again! Tonight is the series premiere of the third season of American Idol, and while I find it hard to believe they can outdo last season (there will never be another Clay...), I'm still psyched. And I hear that Elton John and Paul McCartney may well put in appearances as guest judges!!! That in itself is worth looking forward to. Now if they could just get Paul Simon to join the fun... Anyway, I'm looking forward to it!

I'm sure it cost a bundle. I don't know for certain that he's going to be on, but it sounds like there's a very good chance of it.

So, how's everyone enjoying the new season so far? There's a few people I really like. For some reason, I dig the "pen salesman" guy. He reminds me of people I went to college with. He also has the same first and last name as my college roommate (for three years). I'm hoping he makes the top 32. There's others I really like as well. How about all of you?

Ya, the pen salesman is groovy. And the guy they showed Monday night; it's weird how much he sounds like Clay, though he didn't as much in Hollywood. I'm still not clear on who all got cut, so some of the folks I like may be gone already and I don't know it. I thought for sure the red-headed guy was going, but I'm really glad they're giving him another chance. I think he's just so cute. And I really liked the IndoChinese guy, and the guy who sang for the Pope is pretty cool. I've also got a few who I'm not crazy about. Kira just has WAY too much attitude for my liking; even her comments to Simon were getting out of line, but she was just downright rude to Randy. And Scootergirl just irritates me...

While I don't watch the show I do see enough clips to keep up. The first season I really objected to it because I thought (and still do) that at that time kids maybe didn't know what they were getting into and that bothered me. Now that they know, and still go willingly, that's a different story. Now I think it's alternately ridiculous and hilarious. lol.

What I still would rather see is a genuine talent show each week, but that's thought too quaint these days. I bet you'll see one again eventually though.

Cowell does have a great eye for what will sell, and that's what he is paid to do.

Star Search is kinda like that, certainly more so than American Idol. I watch that once in a while.
