I remember, I didn't watch too much in the mid 90s, but I remember Rosita hugging Telly and kissing him when he was scared and stuff. Am I going mental or did this actually happen.

I've always thought this. I remember Rosita and Telly definitely being paired a lot. Heck, even back when I was five I shipped them. Same goes for Elmo and Zoe (although there's less evidence of them actually liking each other).
