A Really Weird Thing...

While my mom and I were at the mall yesterday, just up the street a guy walked into the PNC bank and robbed it, saying that he had a bomb strapped to his chest. Police apprehended him outside moments later, but he told them he had a bomb strapped to him so they backed away and called the bomb squad. Then I guess he said something to the effect that he had been forced to do this by someone else. Before the bomb squad arrived, the bomb detonated and it killed him instantly. Now the police think that he probably was a victim, and the bomb went off by remote. It's a really strange thing, and kinda has people in Erie spooked. They called in specialists from Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C., so we wouldn't be too surprised if it wound up on national news somewhere. They shut down a big stretch of the street for a while, which is kinda the main street, at least for commerce, in Erie. Pretty unsettling...

Yes, this really happened. My mom and I didn't find out about it until later because we were inside the mall at the time, but I think people standing around outside the mall heard the explosion. It's been the headline story on the news all day...

I know. It's really sad - and scary, too. From the sounds of things this was just some ordinary guy who wound up in the wrong place at the wrong time... All the local stations had the whole thing on video tape because they were there after the bank robbery, but they decided that it was too gruesome to show on television. I'm glad I didn't have to see it.

That doesn't sound too good at all . Sounds very scary.

Some pretty weird things happened a few months ago in Sydney in and near shopping malls, 2 or 3 people jumped off high levels in shopping malls to their deaths both inside and outiside in different parts of the mall. There was supposed to be no connection with either of the incidents, just pure coincedence, it happened again a few days later too.

These were really weird events, things like that don't usually happen here in Australia, probably not in the US either.

It gets weirder...

Just before this guy robbed the bank, he delivered a pizza to somebody's house. He went straight from this house to robbing the bank apparently. And this morning, a friend and co-worker of his at the pizza place was found dead this morning. Could be a strange coincidence, but it's awfully odd...

that's a disturbing story erin. i think it has to be one of the most if not the most disturbing story on the muppet central boards. it sounds like this guy who had a bomb strapped on him was forced to do this. i hope i never have to go through something like that. it's bad enough that you see bad stuff like this all the time on the news. i just hope i don't have to be there to witness something bad.
