a part i never understood about Christmas Eve On Sesame Street....

it was at the skating party in the beginning, when they showed the people and a few muppets that were mainly from Sesame Street Live. the part i dont understand is when Ernie was skating inside a barrell with fake legs on it, looking like his legs, and the Count and Cookie Monster were pretending to be pushing it. Bert get's all nervous and stuff. then it shows Ernie come out of the barrell with the two fake legs sitting there.

what was that part all about???
