I wouldn't count on a Bear on Patrol playset. It just wouldn't sell. In fact, it's my opinion that it would sell less than a Koosebane playset (which has already been scrapped). My votes for the 2004 playsets would be Backstage with Naked Sam and Vets Hospital with Nurse Janice and 2 sets of scrubs to put on Piggy and Rowlf. Or make Nurse Piggy and Dr. Bob Convention 2-pack exclusive in 2004 (similar to the Bunsen & Beaker tuxed versions).

Interesting different opinions. Well, it really just depends on how spectacular they make a Bear on Patrol set. I certainly wouldn't count it out just yet. Could we ever have imagined that everyone would go nuts over a repaint of Dr. Teeth or a Kermit with a red tie? The BOP set with just a straight interpretation would be dull, but Palisades could up the ante with their creativity and cool touches. I was actually concerned about the Chef set after the Muppet Labs results. It really is anyone's guess. But we know that Palisades is invested in Patrol Fozzie and he will come out.

Make that a double no Crazy Harry;-)

We wouldn't want them to be an exclusive because they would be harder to get for some people, or some people would not know about them. then Janice would be left alone in the playset as part of the main line, so you really can't split that up.

there are all diffrent opition's here, we really don't know what would and would not sell, we know what we will buy though. I mean we all thought Muppet Labs with Beaker would sell like hot cakes, i can see why Animal is selling faster though, he really is more popular with the public, and the stage setting is out of this world.

I think bear on patrol would be a cool set, with a cage to lock figures in, wanted posters of EM band members or banana nosed men, it coulds come with an octopus as it has been mentioned before. i think Fozzie should be the figure to come with this set and Link be carded if/and when it would come out.

Fozzie will come with all kinds of cop stuff too, hand cuffs, night stick, maybe walky talky, box of dough nuts, i would doubt a gun though, a gun doesn't even fit in with fozzie or link anyways.Link could come with an ink stamper. fastest stamper in the west...or something like that.

playsets will be spread out but that doesn't mean BOP, VH Backstage won't come out.

I'm kinda doubting on any automobles, the EM bus, It would really have to be big if you wanted Fozzie to fit inside plus the sitting iusse's, still it doesn't mean it won't come out, i really would love to have it!

If those characters were exclusives it would upset many people.

Just curious, but does anyone have good evidence of this? I mean, I haven't seen many Animal playsets on the shelves, but still see tons of Muppet Labs. I have no idea whether to attribute it to the fact that the Labs isn't selling well so they won't put out the Stage until there's more shelf room, or the Stage still isn't readily available in most stores, or it's really selling quite well so you don't see it as much.

Vet's hospital would be my number 2 choiuce for a playset, after the backstage area. BOP, I also BARELY (bear-ly? wocka wocka!) remember...I'd liek a figure maybe of BOP fozzie, sometime down the line, but would prefer VH immensly, and am not hugely excited about a playset....

Ok, first, exclusive nurse piggy and Doctor Bob!?!?!?!?! NNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! That would kill me!

Second, Muppet labs is a major dissappointment. No clock, way too dark, and not much to actually play with. Two switches and a big tub thing. The table that you strap Beaker to is cool except the wires snapped as soon as I touched them! The Electric Mayhem playset is soo much better. It's bright, colorful, is great for music fans and everyone loves animal. I think if playsets came with really well known characters like Animal, Kermit, Fozzie, etc. then the playsets would sell out more. Beaker is known but not nearly as known as Kermit or Animal. I think the Muppet labs playset is too dark, too small, and just not fancy enough. The beaker fiure is great so I'm still glad I got it but the playset is missing a muppety feel.

Ok, third, BOP isn't that well known but it is very good. I think when it comes to playsets you have to think about what would sell weither you were a muppet fan or not. I think the animal playset sells because it's cool and because it's cool even if you weren't a muppet fan. The kitchen could sell well because a lot of people love to cook and even kids would like to play kitchen or something like that. A Pigs In Space set would sell because it's space and a well known sketch. Kids love space stuff but should it come with Piggy? I dunno, link may have been better just because boys won't want to buy a girl pig playset. When it comes to this playset I think the package should focus on the group other than just the pack in figure. VH would probably sell too because kids like to play doctor. I think it should come with a doctor bob because a nurese just ca't run a hospital  ok, so that was a really long paragraph, but I'm glad you made it to the end. Have a cookie.

I doubt there'll be a 2005 schedule, or much of it. If my maths is right the license runs out in the first quarter - it's unlikely Palisades will renew the license (even though they probably wouldn't admit it now) because they've already made the more well known figures and playsets and had trouble selling them, so doesn't really make sense to pay up again for the rights. I think they'll have done extrememly well to make it last until then if they can manage it.

As for evidence of the Mayhem stage selling - i don't think anything has been said officially. It's right that they are seen less on the shelves, but obviously stores can order units on a case by case basis and would have gone by the Lab sales figures so it's difficult to tell whether its because they're popular or just scarce.

I believe they will work through the licensed years - in one form or another - no matter what. There are ways to get the most out of it, but after paying a hefty fee, they will want to use the license. I'm still miffed that JHC hasn't help push the busts (which don't seem to be moving that well either) or the figures on talk show appearances. Heck, the NBC special had so much network product placement, why didn't the Muppets get something in? Maybe not, but do you see what I mean? There are opportunities to make their licensors happy, but they take none of them. One might say that the companies should pay extra for such coverage, but the honest truth is that licensors are not going to be clamoring over a property that is in a slump. This year will be the true test. I hope they do more.
