A Frog And His Bike

In the Muppet Movie, did Kermit really think he could ride his bike across the country in less than a day? Don't get me wrong, I love the movie but didn't it seem kinda obvious that he would get some help? Was that the message that they were sending saying that there will be more characters along the way?

At Tough Pigs, there is a section about an early draft of the script (it isn't known to the webmaster which draft it is), and in that script, there was a scene not in the movie where Kermit mentioned that he was going to ride his bike to a bus station and take the bus to Hollywood. It's too bad that there wasn't any mention of this in the final version of the film.
