Beto seems to have run out of steam, now Mayor Pete has taken his thunder.
Because he's gay, Mayor Pete is higher up the intersectional hierarchy than Beto. How Bernie still leads the pack goes against the wisdom of identity politics. How can this angry old white man be ahead?!

Easy. He is promising everyone free stuff. He wants to tax the top 1 percent at 90%.

Even though there are some women out there who are perfectly fine with the idea of Trump grabbing them by the *****. O.O

But honestly, that's yet another interesting double-standard, how if a Democratic politician has a less-than-savory reputation with women and such, they won't be tolerated for it in the least (again, Al Franken) . . . but a Republican politician has the same kind of reputation (Trump cheating on all his wives, having affairs with hookers and porn stars, paying them hush money, etc.), it's like, "it's okay, God has forgiven them."

The Democrats seemed perfectly willing to sweep Keith Ellison's past of sexual indiscretions under the rug. So why wouldn't that double standard apply to him?

The other double standard nobody acknowledges, calling Trump racist/sexist/misogynist/xenophobic/islamophobic is common currency on the left.
But not one will condemn Ilan Omar's anti-Semitic tweets.
Why not? Because she doesn't fit the narrative that only white people can be racist. They probably never heard Louis Farrakhan or Al Sharpton speak either.
Then when Candace Owens points out the same double standard, she is labeled "race traitor" or worse.
We're living in fun times, ain't we?

I stand corrected. I was sure Kamala Harris was going to end up being heavily favored by the DNC in the same manner that Hillary was in 2016, but it appears it's Biden they're favoring, and mainly because he appears to represent and is supported and endorsed by special interest and lobbyist groups - despite, once again, Bernie being the favorite with the people.

Meanwhile, it appears more and more unknowns are crawling out of the woodwork to run on the Democratic ticket in 2020 - it's quite a reversal of 2016, where Republicans had umpteen different candidates to choose from while Democrats had only two.

Two Democratic debates between tonight and tomorrow night. The field is so large they need to split it between 2 nights.

Thoughts on each:

• De Blasio rubbed me the wrong way on certain issues (like healthcare), but his bringing up raising a black son brought me a bit back to him. I don’t think he’s one of the best here though.
• Delaney started strong (keep what’s working and get rid of what’s not, or whatever he said to that effect, was a great line) but didn’t come back with the same effect later on.
• Ryan was solid until Tulsi annihilated him with the Afghanistan stuff. I doubt he’s coming back.
• Inslee was solid but never really grabbed my attention.
• Klobuchar was also solid and I liked her quite a bit. Certainly her abortion line, knocking on Inslee’s thing, was great. I just don’t think she stands out quite enough her.
• Castro may have been the breakout star here. His aggressive stance on policy was a strong move on his part. I didn’t like him quite as much as others did but I could honestly back him. He’s good.
• Beto is... well... I dunno. Definitely wasn’t the strongest one tonight.
• Booker really impressed me. I thought he did a great job at being articulate with his thoughts, at discussing his own life and how it’s impacted his policies... I really like him.
• Warren also grabbed me tonight. I disagree on stuff like healthcare, but I admire her spirit and I really think she has a strong grip on what’s important for the country.
• And finally, Tulsi. Gotta say, she shot herself in the foot with her first question by not even answering it. But she came back later on to smack down on Ryan and I think people may start looking at her more because of that and her discussing her service in the military. I still like her a lot, personally.

Ultimately I didn’t truly dislike anyone here. Gabbard and Booker are my current favorites and none of these would be any worse than Trump, for sure.
