Wow Big Bird and Snuffy sound very different from today. Snuffy is just a little more gruff, but there is a big difference in Big Bird. And now there is Caroll Spinney's eventual replacement who sounds different too. It's like three distinct voices. I also noticed that Big Bird's right arm moves A LOT. In Journey to Ernie it is completely animated (a second puppeteer I imagine) but I never noticed it moving on the street as much as it does in this video.

It's wierd to go back and watch the characters with different sounding voices. Once we get used to accepting their voices they have as their identity, its hard to accept anything else. Regardless of if its someone new taking over or if its really old and they were still experimenting with the characters.
