The Problems with Modern Sesame Street

I’ve barely watched any of the HBO episodes, but from what I’ve seen, a big liability to the show is the 30-minute running time. Having a whole hour used to work to their favor, but now, they think children can’t handle slow moments anymore, so they cut it down.

    Remembering Bob McGrath (June 13, 1932-December 4, 2022)

Man, this really sucks. We’ll never be able to hear that beautiful singing voice again.

    Little things we've noticed

That was indeed the intention. Here’s what Muppet Wiki has to say: “The curriculum for Season 7 focuses on children with learning disabilities through segments based on research by the Joseph P. Kennedy Foundation. The segments will be presented each Wednesday during the first 20 minutes of the...

    Classic Sesame Clips on YouTube

I was browsing the American Archive of Public Broadcasting website, and I came across a promo video for Wichita’s PBS station which features a brief scene from Episode 1350: https://americanarchive.org/catalog/cpb-aacip-99939ba6b21 Yeah, I know this isn’t a YouTube video, but I doubt we’ll ever...

Could Between the Lions ever come back?

Same here. I was the only kid in my Kindergarten class who knew how to read, and it was all thanks to this show.

    Worst/creepiest puppets/puppeteer work

These puppets look like they were taken out of Gerry Anderson’s trash bin, and the music was produced by a Casio keyboard (I know this because I have that exact keyboard).

Could Between the Lions ever come back?

Well, they’ve succeeded in doing that. They’ve repackaged the series into short 10-15 segments called “Reading Between the Lions”, one of which you can see here: Note that this one includes a scene from one of the missing episodes. There’s also a bunch of non-BTL stuff in it that I don’t know...

    Filming Locations of classic inserts

After a long hiatus, I've come back with another filming location. This was seen in the intro sequence from at least 1978 until some time in the mid-80's. The location is next to the McGraw-Hill Building between W 48th and W 49th Streets. In case you're wondering, it's still there. I took...

The SS Muppets are appearing on my local news station at noon today! I'm probably going to be out of the house at that time so I recorded it for later

Will HBO have any Classic Sesame Street episodes?

Yeah. When Sprout aired seasons 33-35, they usually cut out the Spanish Word of the Day segments. Their reruns of Season 39-42 also got rid of Murray Has a Little Lamb. What is the deal with that? Why are they so intent on removing everything Spanish-related?

    Sesame Street Character Voice Comparisons

On that same record is Allan Melvin as Yogi. Even earlier than that are those awful Golden Records albums with Frank Milano and other NYC voice talent.

    Sesame Street Character Voice Comparisons

I don't know why, but something about Matt's voice for The Count really bothers me. I guess Jerry's voice has been permanently ingrained in my mind that I can't imagine someone else doing it.

    Filming Locations of classic inserts

Filming locations of classic inserts like the "Transportation" film from Episode 0005, or the one about flowers set to Vivaldi music which has an amazing shot at the end of 1969 Brooklyn, or maybe the one with Gordon riding his bike around the city.

Episode 3913, where :p sleeps over with :wisdom:. I love the part where Ernie keeps asking Gordon to get things for him.
