Hey all,
I just finished a puppet I was building for the MacWorld Expo happening in February (computer nerd thing), and I thought I'd show you how it looks, as he ended up fairly swanky. The pants and shoes are from Old Navy, but the hoodie is completely from scratch.
Here's one of him...
Hey all,
A little while ago I did a series of four videos for the tech site Gizmodo, featuring the amazing comedy duo Snitch & Langford. They made fun of tech stuff.
The videos went live over American Thanksgiving, and I thought I'd show them to you, because I just put them up on my own feed...
Hey all,
So a little while ago I finished my rebuild (and slight redesign) of Snitch from dotBoom. Last night I finished a new puppet, named Langford. They're going to serve as something of a comedy duo for a series of short comedy bits I'm doing for a tech news site in the near future.
This...
Hey all,
I'm working on another small show, and I need a female puppeteer to add to the cast. Unfortunately, I seem to know many more male puppeteers than female ones, so I'm a little clueless as to who to turn to.
What I'm looking for someone for is initially short-term, just a day or two...
Hey all,
I've been hard at work on a mess of puppets lately, and I thought I'd show two of them. I ought to have better photos of my BSG puppets in the near future, and I've finished one puppet which is hush hush at the moment, but which involves a fairly ornate application of thread as...
Hey all,
Who all is going to the puppetry festival this weekend in Almonte? I (along with my lovely wife) will be there, and it would be cool to be able to put a face to a name.
Roll Call!
I've finished my Centurion puppet (which makes 2 out of 5 for the project!), and despite only taking a couple days, I think he's looking pretty bad-***.
Here's a cool shot of him:

And here's the photoset on Flickr, if you're...
I took a brief detour from my BSG puppets to build a Walt Mossberg puppet, for a video thing I'm doing with my friend, which will hopefully make it to Newsweek's site in the near future.
Check out puppet Mossberg! He turned out really well, I think...
Hey all,
I'm doing my BSG puppetbuilding work, and partway through Tigh and Tyrol. I'm excitedly jumping ahead to the outfitting, because I think I'm starting to get a handle on that part. This morning I just made some pants for the Colonel Tigh puppet, which I think came out pretty well. He...
I'm working on the next couple of BSG puppets, and this photo of the foam structure of Tyrol and Tigh looks pretty cool, I think:

I'm planning on getting fabric over their torso and arms and legs today, so they'll at least look cohesive. :)
Hey all,
So after *much* work, I've got my Caprica Six puppet finished! (well, I need to give her a couple more finger nails, but aside from that she's done) She turned out pretty well, though I'm not as happy about her face as I'd like to be. The first iteration of the lips were not right, but...
Hey all,
As some of you might know, I've been working on some cylon patterns for a BSG thing I'm hoping to do. I was going to do four "human" puppets and one metal cylon, and the fourth puppet changed fairly recently. As a result, I've got a neat looking head pattern for Helo...
I'm having a heck of a time placing this fabric:

I'm thinking of the main suit; it looks rubbery with an almost gasoline-covered shine to it. Any thoughts?
Hey all,
The basic electric carving knife is pretty awesome, and I'm loving using it, but it's a little big, and makes detail work a little tricky. Do any of you know of any smaller carving knives? Something 4-6 inches would be pretty groovy. Alternatively, if there are any good Dremel/rotary...
Hey everybody,
I was curious to know if anyone knows of a way to get custom embroidered patches (like this:http://battlestar.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/ebl252.jpg), or a good way to simulate it.
I was thinking that short of ordering a run of custom patches (when I'll need somewhere...
For the BSG puppets I'm doing, I finally got myself an electric carving knife and a hunk of foam, and took my first stab at building a puppet torso.
There are lots of ways I'm going to improve on the result for next time, but for a first attempt (in any real way), I think it turned out nicely...
Hey all,
I know there are a bunch of puppeteers on twitter, but I imagine there are a bunch I don't know of. So everyone with a twitter account, you should post a link in this thread, so we can all follow each other's puppet-based ramblings.
Well, for me it's ramblings, for you guys it might...
I just finished him! He turned out pretty well, I think. He will, in dotBoom season 2, terrorize Farrah mightily (along with his raccoon brothers and sisters, all of whom will be played by Poodles).

What do you think? He's a pretty...
Because I don't have enough projects on the go, these designs might be made into real puppets in the near future:

On a related note, does anybody here have any good tips on creating prop guns? Aside from making them out of wood or...
