I'd say that it's more likely that whoever posted the clip *intentionally* edited the video to remove those sections.

Sorry to bump this thread, however by chance I've discovered a video on YouTube that suggests there was more to the Danny Kaye episode when it originally aired on ITV, Christmas Day 1978. Look for the video entitled "The Muppet Show close & Thames Television continuity - Christmas Day 1978"
