Because the Muppets are not the hot new thing... They do not have cheasy trading battle cards, they do not use the word "gay" in anything they do, they do not star J-Lo.. they do not ripoff Pokemon, they do not rip-off Hello kitty, they do not make live action remakes of cartoon, they are not...

Well, no offense (thoughn I dispise the stuff..) but Pokemon has kinda wained in interest after all these Poke like shows (Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh etc) came out... so I do not think warners was about to lose more money (the last film closed rapidly, did worse than Vegitales) on another Pokemon film...
